The Dominion Country Club League honors the female swimmer who compiles the highest individual event points based on best times throughout the season.
About the Susan Spotswood Memorial of Highest Achievement Award
The Susan Spotswood Memorial Trophy honors the achievement of the top 13–14 year-old girl swimmer in the DCCL each year, but also honors the efforts of every 13-14 year old girl swimmer who strives to do her best, at every level of ability.
Susan Marie Spotswood, “Susie” to her family and friends, was barely 14 years old in September of 1972 when she was killed in a tragic accident on the Friday night of the first week of her freshman year in high school. Susie had just finished her 7th year swimming for the Mount Vernon Yacht Club Dolphins Swim Team and would have again competed in the 13-14 age group the following summer. Though Susie was a good swimmer, she wasn't the top 13–14 year-old girl in the DCCL, or even on her own team. Instead, she was a team player who always tried her hardest and did her best. In Susie's memory, we give The Susan Spotswood Memorial Trophy to the top 13–14 year-old girl swimmer in the DCCL each year. We hope the annual winner holds the torch for Susie and honors every 13–14-year-old girl in the league who competes to the best of her ability.
